The BIU College of Humanities and Journalism, Bareilly International University, Bareilly in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Property Management (RGNIIPM), Nagpur, Government of India successfully organized an online workshop under the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission on 23 February 2026. The theme of the workshop was “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) & Patents and Design filing”.
The objective of the workshop was to increase awareness of intellectual property rights among students and teachers and to provide necessary information related to innovation, research and protection of creative works. In the program, Assistant Controller of Patents & Design, RGNIIPM Nagpur, Mr. Raju Kumar elaborated on the concept of IPR, types of patents and designs, filing process, benefits and practical aspects.
The program was successfully organized under the able guidance and direction of Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Lata Agarwal. It was completed with the cooperation of University Registrar Dr. S.K. Thakur, University Innovation Cell Chairman Dr. Pushpendra Kannojiya and College Principal Dr. Sunil Kumar Singh.
With the successful participation of the program coordinator, Mr. Sarnam Singh, Assistant Registrar and Incharge of the Internal Quality Cell, and Mr. Atul Babu, Assistant Professor, students and faculty from several colleges of the university participated in the workshop. During the program, participants were briefed on the patent and design registration process, the required documents, timelines, and related legal aspects. Students and teachers actively participated in the question-and-answer session, seeking answers to their doubts. Shivom Shankhdhar, Shalini Singh, Shivani Mishra, Chhavi Pal, Shivam Mishra, Himanshu, Chaman Babu, and others were present. The forum was moderated by college student Priya Jha (2nd year BBA Finance & Taxation). The college administration expressed its gratitude to RGNIIPM Nagpur and the Government of India for organizing this useful and informative workshop and reiterated its commitment to organize such educational programs in the future. The successful organization of the workshop developed a positive attitude towards innovation and intellectual property protection among the participants.
