The 42nd Association of Otolaryngologist of India, UP Chapter was successfully conducted from 19th to 21st September, 2025 here at Rohilkhand Medical College and Hospital, Bareilly. It was an auspicious event where prominent clinicians and eminent surgeons across the country had graced us with their presence. It was an extensive session covering the basics of ENT to the advanced session of Head and Neck Cancer.
UPAOICON 2025 DETAILS
The 42nd Association of Otolaryngologist of India, UP Chapter was successfully conducted from 19th to 21st September, 2025 here at Rohilkhand Medical College and Hospital, Bareilly. It was an auspicious event where prominent clinicians and eminent surgeons across the country had graced us with their presence. It was an extensive session covering the basics of ENT to the advanced session of Head and Neck Cancer.
Day one beganearly at 8:30 AM with 3 hands-on sessions namely Temporal Bone Dissection, Thyroplasty, and Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) at Rohilkhand Cadaveric dissection and Surgical skill lab.
The Temporal bone dissection started under the able guidance of our course director Dr AmitKeshri, Professor and Head Department of Head and Neck surgery at the prestigious institute of SGPGIMS Lucknow. Equally complimented by meticulous coordination of DrMudit Mishra who beautifully managed 12 dissectors and 2 observers.
TheThyroplasty and airway session was directed by Dr. RakeshSrivastava who’s well known internationally for his knowledge and skills of laryngeal surgeries. The course involving 6 dissectorsand 2 observers were introduced to various new concepts of laryngeal surgeries under the co-ordination of Dr. Shashank Gupta. Everyone was excited and eager to learn seeing the enthusiastic faculties.
Our eminent National faculty from Punjab Dr. Ashok Gupta (Ex- Head of department, ENT and Head and Neck Surgery at PGI, Chandigarh)currently heading Department of Head and Neck Surgery at Fortis Hospital, Mohali was the course director for FESS and Dr. Amit Kumar Rana was the course co-ordinator who diligently taught our 12 dissectors and 2 observers.
A captivating interactive video sessions that started around 10’ O clock in hall A caught the eye of the crowd with gathering exceeding a number of >200 delegates. Scientific sessions with thrilling , recorded surgeries, techniques and shared experiences by wellknown clinicians were displayed. A total of 4 sessions were held in hall A for the first day where 19 interesting video presentations were displayed.
Simultaneously in Hall B, instructional course on Allergy and Skin prick test was conducted under the guidance of Dr. SarikaVerma, Director of allergy Doc and Head of allergy Department at Moolchand Hospital Delhi, as the course director and DrShradha Chandra as course coordinator involving 12 participants .The demonstration was followed by a hands-on session.
Meanwhileinvited talks started in hall A from 8.30 am, which was followed by three Orations. Prof. S.R. Singh Oration was delivered by Dr. Anil K. D’Cruz, a renowned Head and Neck Surgical Oncologistcurrently based at Apollo Hospital,Mumbai, Ex-Director Tata Memorial Hospital,Mumbai and presently esteemed President of UICC, Geneva, Switzerland that met with a huge round of applause from the delegates. Pofessor. R.N. Mishra Oration was delivered by our eminent faculty Dr. Ashok Gupta, a renowned Otorhinolaryngologist from Fortis,Mohali. Prof. Y.C.Yadav Oration was delivered by his son Dr. Rajesh Yadav, Director and Chief consultant at Rajdeep E.N.T. Hospital & cochlear implant, Microsurgery centre, Gorakhpur.
Following which a keynote lectureon “Role of Mahendramaneuver in Sinusitis and Eustachian tube dysfunction” was given by Dr. M.K. Taneja. Two sessions of Invited talks covering all the necessary academic aspects were delivered by 10 of our esteemed speakers.
Following which our Inaugration ceremony started thatwas graced by our Chief guest,TheHonorary District Magistrate of Bareilly, ShriAvinash Singh. The event saw the august gathering of various stalwarts of medical field like Chancellor BIUDr.Keshav Kumar Agarwal, Pro Chancellor BIUDr. Ashok Agarwal,Vice Chancellor BIU Dr.LataAgarwal,Pro Vice Chancellor BIU Dr.KiranAgarwal, Dr.Sharad Seth, Principal RMCH,Dr.PrabhatSrivastava, President UPAOI , Dr.Rohit Sharma, Organising Chairman UPAOICON 2025, Dr, AbhinavSrivastava, OrganisingSecretary UPAOICON 2025, Dr.Sandeep Kumar organizing co-chairman, Dr.Vineet Kumar Sharma honorary treasurer UPAOI and Dr.RajeshKumar,President elect UPAOI 2025.
Another session of invited talks were conducted followed by Thrilling and enlightening Panel discussion on cochlear implant graced by experts in this field likeDr. Rajeev Pachauri, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dr.Rohit Sharma, Dr.AmitKeshri, Dr.RajanBhargava,Dr. DevendraLalchandani, Dr. Rajesh Yadav, Dr.Munish Kumar Saroch, Dr.Rajat Jain and Dr.Vishwambhar as our panellist and was moderated by Dr.RohitMehrotra from Kanpur. Which was followed by another breath-taking and important panel discussion about Case Based scenarios on Head and Neck Cancer. The panellists gracing us were Dr. Anil K D’cruz,Dr. Vivekanand,Dr. Rohit Sharma, Dr.Jagdeep Thakur, Dr.SumitPrasad,Dr. AkhilPratap Singh, Dr.ArjunAgarwal(Surgical oncologist), Dr.LaxmanPandey, Dr Siddharth(Medical Oncologist) and Dr.SandeepRamawat(Radiooncologist).
Simultaneously in hall B, threesesions of invited talks from seventeen speakers and engaging panel discussion of vertigo was held.
Post graduate Poster presentation,free and Award Paper presentation were held in Hall C. As the scientific session ends, General body meeting was held to discuss the next year agenda. The day ended with an elegant Gala dinner followed by delightful musical evening.
Third day began with Instuctional course on Sialo-endoscopy, first ever to be added in history of UPAOI. A prominent surgeon Dr.VarunRaigraced the session as the course director which was well coordinated by Dr.Satguru Saran Singh.
Simultaneously in hall A, invited talks were started around 8’ O clock followed by Keynote lecture on “Preserving function, maximizing clearance: Two-handed Endoscopic techniques in Cholesteatoma” was delivered by Dr, Mubarak Khan.
Invited talks uncovering cochlear implant was elegantly delivered by our speakers. Following which Junior consultant video award sessions were held.
Simultaneously in hall B, post graduate award papers and junior consultant award papers were conducted.
Final rounds of Post graduate Quiz competition were also conducted in hall A with our quiz master Dr.Sumit Sharma which was then followed by Valedictory ceremony and that marks the end of UPAOICON 2025.
