The “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women” is observed globally on 25th November every year to raise awareness and reaffirm the commitment to end all forms of violence faced by women and girls. In alignment with the UN’s global campaign “Unite: Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women & Girls”, our institution conducted a meaningful and impactful observance on 25th November 2025. The event aimed to educate, sensitize, and empower participants to stand against gender-based violence and promote a culture of respect, dignity, and equality.
Objectives of the Programme
- To raise awareness about various forms of violence against women.
- To emphasize the need for collective action and preventive strategies.
- To encourage students, faculty, and community members to become advocates of gender justice.
- To highlight support systems, legal frameworks, and institutional mechanisms available for women’s safety.
Programme Overview
A role play on violence against women was performed by the students of B.Sc. Nursing III Semesterin the OPD waiting area under the guidance of Mrs. Princia Rolita D’Souza, Associate Professor, Rohilkhand College of Nursing, Bareilly. The performance was designed to be simple, realistic, and impactful, ensuring patients and visitors could easily understand the message.
The Scenes Highlighted:
- Domestic violence
- Emotional and verbal abuse
- Workplace harassment
- The importance of speaking up and seeking help
The performance also included a short message about available helplines, legal provisions, and institutional support for women facing violence. The live demonstration in the OPD attracted the attention of patients, attendants, and staff, creating an effective awareness environment.
Outcomes
- Patients and visitors gained awareness on recognizing violence and understanding the importance of reporting.
- The public setting helped reach a larger and diverse audience.
- Strengthened the role of healthcare professionals and institutions in advocating against violence.
- Students developed communication and community-sensitization skills.
Conclusion
The role play conducted in the OPD on the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women” was impactful and successful in delivering a powerful social message. By performing in front of patients and the community, the initiative helped spread awareness beyond the classroom and emphasized collective responsibility in preventing violence against women.
